Preparing for Surgery
Should you be self-funding, a surgical fixed price package can be arranged by contacting the administrative team at the Joint Clinic. The Fixed Price Package covers the cost of the Surgeon, Anaesthetist, Surgery, Hospital Stay, Inpatient physiotherapy and one follow up consultation.
Should you have Private Health Cover, you should contact your Insurance Company and give them the details of your scheduled surgery. They will need to know the name of the Consultant and Anaesthetist and the code of your surgery.
It is important to feel like you have enough information and education on the operation and follow up care. Please feel free to ask as many questions you want to.
Before the surgery you must advise your surgeon of any health problems or medication you are on, eg. any medication containing Aspirin or Warfarin (to thin the blood) or arthritis tablets (Feldene, Voltaren, Brufen, Indocid, Orudis etc.). It may be necessary to temporarily cease taking some medications prior to your surgery to prevent bleeding complications.
