How do I make an appointment at Joint Clinic?
A General Practitioner's referral letter is usually required for insured patients. However, the Joint Clinic consultants will see self-referring patients and will ensure that your GP is kept up to date with your treatment.
How long will I wait for an appointment?
An appointment will be offered to you at a time convenient to you within the a few days of receiving a referral.
Where will I go for my consultation?
Joint Clinic patients are usually seen at The Hawthorns Private Medical Consulting Rooms in Droitwich Spa. Some consultations can take place at local leading private hospitals in Worcestershire and Birmingham.
How quickly will my condition be investigated?
X-rays can be performed and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan usually take place on the day of your consultation.
Where can I have physiotherapy, if needed?
This can be arranged at a physiotherapy clinic or a hospital near your home. If you are already undergoing physiotherapy, we encourage you to continue the physiotherapy treatment including post-operative physiotherapy with the referring physiotherapists.
If I need an operation, where would this be carried out?
The Joint Clinic surgeons operate at a number of leading private hospitals in and around Worcestershire.
Do I have to have private health insurance to be seen at the Joint Clinic?
We welcome both privately insured as well as self paying patients. If you are self paying and need surgery, we can arrange for you to be provided with a quote for fixed price package from the hospital of your choice
Do I need to check with my insurance provider regarding cover?
You will need to check with your insurance provider in order to ensure that they will cover the cost of the treatment. They will give you an authorisation number for each part of the treatment. However there is usually an excess on the policy and sometimes a short-fall in the fee which you would be responsible for.
How can I find out about the cost of the treatment?
We aim to keep most of our fees within the benefit limits paid out by the major insurance companies. However, for some specialties there can be a short fall but we would advise you regarding the outpatient consultation fee at the time of booking the outpatient visit.
Can my care be transferred to the NHS after being seen by the Joint Clinic?
It is possible for your care to be transferred to the NHS at any stage of your treatment. However, your care is not prioritised over other NHS patients.
What happens after I have had a surgical procedure?
Many of the keyhole surgical procedures can be carried out as day cases. For procedures such as hip replacement or knee replacement you are discharged once the nursing staff and physiotherapists are happy that you are fully mobile and safe to go home. At the time of discharge a follow-up appointment will be arranged for you at the Joint Clinic.
