The Feet and Ankles

Many people suffer with foot pain and ankle pain. Often, foot problems can be resolved with good advice regarding footwear and foot care. Some foot problems may improve with special insoles or devices, and some will benefit from surgery. Ankle pain may settle down with physiotherapy and splints but may require specialist investigations and in some cases arthroscopic (key hole) surgery. Diabetic foot problems require specialist attention combining a package of wound care, education and appropriate footwear. Common foot and ankle problems may present the following symptoms:
