Ms Anna Moon MD PhD
Specialist Hand Surgeon
Anna was born in Slovakia where she completed her undergraduate training at the University Hospital, Kosice. She then trained in Trauma and Orthopaedics in Slovakia, Austria and the UK. Anna wrote her Ph Thesis on the microsurgical techniques used in Hand Surgery. She has extensively trained with specialists in hand injuries and microsurgery and performed more than 100 re-plantations (microsurgical re-attachment of amputated hands).
Anna specialises in hand surgery and she routinely performs a whole range of procedures including wrist arthroscopy, tendon and ligament repair, Dupuytren's fasciectomy, nerve entrapment (i.e. carpal tunnel syndrome), bone fixation etc.
Anna has been a Consultant Surgeon in Worcestershire Acute Hospital Trust since September 2005. She is a member of BSSH (British Society of Surgery of the Hand), BOA (British Orthopaedic Association) and the BMA (British Medical Association).
Anna Moon Sabbatical
Anna is working at the Al Mafraq Hospital in the United Arab Emirates for a year-long sabbatical. During her time there she will be working as a consultant in the Department of Plastic Surgery with privileges in Hand Surgery. Anna will be practising alongside experts in Plastic Surgery and Orthopaedic Hand Surgery. She will be dealing with the full range of hand injuries from distal radius, open and closed fractures and multi-level forearm injuries in adults and in paediatric cases. She will be contributing towards building and developing a replantation team whose aim is to be the referral centre for the Emirates. Her objective is to return to the UK with an enhanced capability to specialise in all types of hand injuries.
