Mr Divya Prakash FRCS (Ed & Gl) MCh Orth FRCS (Orth)
Consultant Knee Surgeon
Divya is a Specialist Knee Surgeon. He was born in India and did his basic training over there but he came to the Midlands to do his specialist training in orthopaedic surgery. He developed an interest in knee surgery fairly early in his career, having worked with some famous knee surgeons and he followed this up with doing a fellowship in knee surgery in Nottingham.
He joined the British Army in 1999 and was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal Hospital Hazlor in Portsmouth, where he continued to develop his interest in knee surgery, looking after the local population and also the soldiers, many of whom had rather bad knee injuries. During his career in the army, he had several deployments, including Sierra Leone, Bosnia and more recently, Iraq. He held the post of Lieutenant Colonel.
On coming out of the army, he moved to Birmingham where he joined as a Consultant at the Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals and has continued his interest in knee surgery and likes to stay at the forefront of technology. He routinely performs uni-compartmental knee replacements, as well as patello-femoral replacements and expects to start doing cartilage transplant and computer navigated knee surgery at Droitwich.
